Just another author in world of words
Blog — GOOD 20th CENTURY READS
I read, on average, a book every two or three days. It’s a life-long habit. I love being sucked into different worlds, meeting different people with different thinking than mine. I get to know some characters well enough to want a yearly reunion. I also love “blitzing” a good author by reading from page 1, book 1 to page z of book z. It’s amazing to see them evolve and occasionally I can work out how they did it. One author who evolved significantly was Dorothy Sayers. The writer who defeats me the most is Dick Francis. He has such a set plotline but I can never figure out how he manages to suck me into his books.
In the coming weeks, I hope to introduce some of you to good reads by 20th century authors you may not have heard of. I hope you’ll enjoy the journey that will begin tomorrow.
